Kashmir University’s Institute of Technology, Zakura is going to organise a mega 5-day technology festival where students from Kashmir’s more than 70 Colleges and 100 schools are going to participate.

“This 5-day mega techno-cultural fest consists of special series of events focussed on the radical implications of technological advancements and their potential to reshape the society. A diverse group of expert panellists which include innovators, scientists, engineers, artists, and entrepreneurs will lead a wide array of conversations sharing their discoveries, endeavours, and insights amongst the youth of Jammu and Kashmir,” the student organizers of the festival said while speaking with Kashmir Despatch.

The festival is being referred as Roshnaas, which means acquaintances, associates and companion. “Several departments come together and work as a unit to make this technology fest the top-notch fest with their intelligence, capabilities, power of thinking, and ideas turned into factual projects, showcasing their minds to the audience. Its aim is to motivate oneself and to achieve goals with determination, and hard work and to inspire creativity and passion. It leads to teamwork by supporting ideas and shaping them by experience,” said Farhana Fayaz Buttoo, one of the student organisers said further.

Roshnaas is all about connecting students from a variety of educational institutions to pursue their passion within an accomplished community of mentors. Students from various schools, colleges and universities from all over the valley will have the opportunity to participate in hands-on learning activities that will be provided as part of the tech-fest. This event would feature representatives from a wide range of sectors, giving students the opportunity to gain exposure to new developments, ideas and possibilities for improved career planning. This event has more than 30 exciting competitions, project presentations, workshops, and seminars integrated with a perfect dose of entertainment. Roshnas aims to bridge the gap between society and academic institutes.

“With universities being major stakeholders of academics, we are welcoming all the universities of the valley. With the specific events and programs for university students we have invited the students from all the universities of Kashmir,” Manan Malik, another student added.

The Techfest will give young and graduating students an opportunity to showcase their skills and provide them with entrepreneurial exposure of one of its kind in the valley.

More than 70 colleges across the Kashmir valley are invited to attend this event. More than 100 schools have been invited to attend this fest. With dedicated events for school participants, students from 9th standard to 12th standard are expected to participate from the valley.
