Reasi, Mar 7:On the directions of the Jammu and Kashmir Legal Services Authority and under the chairmanship of Sh. Khalil Choudhary, Chairman District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Reasi and Principal District & Sessions Judge Reasi, the District Legal Services Authority Reasi in collaboration with the Tehsil Legal Services Committee (TLSC) Sub Division Mahore celebrated International Women’s Day on Saturday by organizing a Legal Awareness Camp at Government Higher Secondary School, Mahore under the theme “Give to Gain.”
The awareness programme witnessed participation of several officers, legal experts, students and members of civil society. Among those present were Chairman DLSA Reasi Sh. Khalil Choudhary (Pr. District & Sessions Judge Reasi), Ms. Pooja Gupta, Secretary DLSA Reasi (Sub-Judge), Sh. Himanshoo Attri, Munsiff Reasi and Chairman TLSC Mahore, Ms. Rashi Baru, Chief LADC DLSA Reasi, Sh. Shafaqat Majeed Bhat, SDM, Ms. Parul Bhardwaj, SDPO Mahore, Tehsildar Mahore, Sh. Mahesh Chander BDO Mahore, Sh. Anurudh Singh BDO Chassana, Sh. Super Dil BDO Thuroo, Sh. Ranjay Gupta BDO Gulab Garh, Sh. Pritam Singh, Principal Government Higher Secondary School Mahore, Sh. Zulfkar Ali AEE PHE Mahore, Sh. Vijay Thappa AEE PDD Mahore, Sh. Bishan Das Executive Engineer PWD Mahore, Sh. Neeraj Mattu CDPO Mahore, advocates from Court Complex Mahore, staff members, students and Para Legal Volunteers.
The programme began with a welcome address by Ms. Pooja Gupta, Secretary DLSA Reasi, who highlighted the significance of spreading legal awareness among students and the general public.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman DLSA Reasi Sh. Khalil Choudhary elaborated on the importance of International Women’s Day and stressed the need to ensure protection and empowerment of women through legal awareness. He also informed the participants about various laws enacted for the welfare and protection of women and briefed the gathering about different schemes launched by NALSA and SLSA to provide legal aid and assistance to the needy.
Chief LADC DLSA Reasi and advocates from Court Complex Mahore also addressed the gathering and sensitized students about women’s rights, violence against women and various welfare and social security schemes available for women.
During the programme, students of the school also shared their views on the theme of the event. On the occasion, Maroofa Kousar (Class 12th), Nahida Kousar (Class 11th), Shabina Akhter (Class 10th) and Jamila Anjam, a Para Judo athlete, were felicitated with trophies in recognition of their achievements.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks presented by the Bar President, Court Complex Mahore.
