Ganderbal, Feb 17,: A collaborative effort between wildlife authorities and local residents in Ganderbal has led to the successful capture of a leopard cub in the Wussan area.
A video viral on social media showed a youth climbing to top of a poplar tree rescuing the leopard cub before the wildlife authorities tranquillised the animal.
The cub was rescued alive, ensuring its safety and paving the way for potential rehabilitation.
The operation was carried out by a team of wildlife experts who worked diligently to rescue the cub without causing it harm.
This rescue highlights the dedication and expertise of wildlife authorities in Ganderbal, as well as the importance of community involvement in protecting local wildlife.
Local residents have expressed relief and gratitude for the authorities’ swift action, which ensures safety for both humans and wildlife in the area.
Incharge of the Wildlife Control Room Ganderbal, Shabir Ahmad, confirmed to Kashmir Despatch that the Cub was captured after being tranquilized. “The Cub has been safely relocated and released in Dachigam National Park,” he added.
