As Covid-19 second wave intensifies there are calls for instant lockdowns from various quarters. But the question remains can we afford another lock-down and to what extent shall it prove beneficial for halting the spread of this dreaded virus. As far as the positive results are concerned the statistics are still blurry but the projected data available on the repercussions on the economy are gloomy and murky.
The key lies in a smart-lockdown wherein essential services are made available and work from home should be given another spell. Besides that, the SOP’s laid down by WHO must be followed in letter in spirit. The key in stopping the spread of this virus lies in preventive measures.
The economy of J&K has been already wobbling from past two years and if another year is marked with a lockdown, the situation will definitely go from bad to worse. So, as we hold smart gadgets with us these days, smart thinking and healthy habits need to be adopted to win the fight against this menace.
Humanity has time and again faced various challenges and this is the challenge of our times until we take precautions and have good hopes everything is going to be fine. As in the words of poet: “If winter is here, Can spring be far behind”
