LG Sinha Leads Tiranga Wave in J&K

CM Omar Joins LG’s Tiranga March in Srinagar

FIRDOUS AHMAD

SRINAGAR, Aug 12: The spirit of the tricolor soared high in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday as Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha led a historic Tiranga Yatra in Srinagar, declaring that the skies of the Union Territory were “aglow with the spirit of the Tiranga.”

Flagging off the Yatra from the iconic Dal Lake and joining a walkathon to the Botanical Garden, LG Sinha delivered an impassioned address. “From the banks of the Jhelum to the Chenab, and from the peaks of Pir Panjal to Harmukh, the chants of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ resonate across J&K. A new generation has risen, devoted to the honor and glory of the tricolor, with a singular resolve—to live and die for Maa Bharti,” he said.

Describing the Tiranga as his “dharma, strength, and heartbeat,” Sinha reflected on his deep commitment to the nation, saying, “It would be a blessing to be reborn to serve this country,” before reciting a heartfelt Hindi verse:
“कर्म हेतु इस धर्म भूमि पर लें फिर-फिर हम जन्म सहर्ष—”
(“For duty’s sake, may we be born again and again on this sacred land.”)

The LG paid tribute to forefathers and bravehearts who laid down their lives for the nation. “Thousands have gathered today to honor our National Flag—a symbol of unity, pride, and shared identity. Let us build a modern and prosperous Jammu & Kashmir on the foundation laid by our soldiers—Army, CAPFs, and Police personnel,” he urged.

He credited Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s leadership for ushering in a new era of inclusive growth in J&K. “Generations of unfulfilled aspirations are finally being realized. With love for Maa Bharti in their hearts, our people are marching forward. This patriotism is our greatest strength, paving the way for a peaceful and prosperous future,” Sinha said.

Expressing gratitude to the people of J&K, youth, Nari Shakti, public representatives, the Culture and Education Departments, J&K Police, security forces, educational institutions, and NCC cadets, he lauded their historic participation in the Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan. He highlighted initiatives like Weaves & Threads in schools, colleges, and neighborhoods, as well as Tiranga Melas, Concerts, and Bike Rallies as powerful platforms to honor freedom fighters and promote unity.

Calling upon the youth to take the lead in the third phase of the Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan starting August 13, Sinha said, “Let the tricolor fly high on every home and government building—a testament to our unity and ideals.”

On the occasion, the LG honored Kargil War heroes and released a monograph commemorating J&K’s martyrs. A Tiranga Concert followed, paying rich tribute to India’s valiant freedom fighters.

While Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also addressed the rally, urging people to respect the national flag beyond ceremonial events, the day unmistakably belonged to the Lieutenant Governor, whose powerful words and presence set the tone for the celebrations across the Union Territory.

The Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, continues to inspire citizens to proudly hoist the tricolor from August 2 to 15, with cleanliness drives reinforcing the message that “Cleanliness is Service.”

Across towns, villages, and cities, the Union Territory came alive in saffron, white, and green as students, residents, and officials marched together, the Tiranga dancing in the breeze—a living tribute to India’s unity and independence.
