LoC march delayed till Imran”s speech at UNGA

Date:

Islamabad, Sep 15 A committee comprising heads of political and religious parties of Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) has decided to delay a proposed march towards the Line of Control (LoC) until Prime Minister Imran Khans address at the UN General Assembly on September 27.

The decision was taken during meeting of the committee presided over by the region”s Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider here on Saturday, Dawn news reported.

On Aug 9, four days after India revoked Jammu and Kashmir”s special status, a multi-party meeting was convened by Haider to discuss the situation.

As a wide understanding at the meeting was to stage a march towards the LoC, he was mandated by the participants to set modalities and fix a date for it.

However, no progress could be made on the matter due to Haider”s month-long foreign tour.

On Haider”s return on September 11, a general meeting of some heads and representatives of political and religious parties was held, but a decision on the matter was again deferred till Khan”s address at a rally in Muzaffarabad on Friday.

Responding to the planned LoC march, Khan said he knew that majority of youths in PoK wanted to stage a march on the LoC out of passion and commitment but he urged them to defer it until he addressed the General Assembly.
