Local contractors/vendors encouraged to take up Army contracts; Com Sec Padma Angmo chairs meeting with ASC & local traders/entrepreneur

Leh, Jan 30: Commissioner/Secretary TechnicalEducation & Skill Development Department, Padma Angmo called an interactive meeting between the Army Service Corps (ASC) and the local traders, contractors and entrepreneurs to encourage local entrepreneurs, traders and contractors to become suppliers for the Armed Forces.

As flagged during the 1st Civil MilitaryLiaison Conference earlier this month, the Commissioner/Secretary stated that as per Army, few local contractors are impaneled with the ASC and emphasized that necessary support in terms of training, and workshops can be provided by the Skill Development Department to bridge this gap so that the local traders/contractors can tap the large supply market of the ASC.
SK Yadav, Col Q (Ops &Maint) HQ 14 Corps, and ColTaruneshDatta, Col Transport HQ 14 Corps interacted with representatives ofLingtseEnterprise, Kwality Foods Ladakh, Gortsa, Techcold etc.

Addressing the participants, Col TaruneshDatta, ColTransport HQ 14 Corps stated that ASC is keen on working with local contractors so that maximum benefits are tapped by the locals and encouraged them to provide their commitment to providing quality products and service. Col Yadav assured that ASC will facilitate all concerns being raised including facilitation in registration and guidance through the entire process. He added that the Army is a huge consumer of dairy and poultry products apart from fresh vegetables, and the challenge in Ladakh has mainly been quantity.

In this regard, the Commissioner Secretary encouraged the entrepreneurs to engage SHGs for the production of food items and urged them to take benefit of existing credit facilities in order to expand their businesses.
