Its third year in a row when the spread of Covid-19 is likely to onset a new lockdown that experts say might beging as early as February 2022.
With every passing day, India is once again witnessing a tide of rising Covid-19 positive cases. The doctors are terming this new wave a substitutional transition where Delta Variant is going to be replaced with Omicron mutant.
There are more number of Omicron positive cases being reported from all the parts of the country and J&K is definitely no exception to that. The transmissibility of this new virus mutant is relatively higher than its predecessors which makes it extremely contagious.
However, the mortality rates remains still lower in Omicron positive patients as compared to other deadly Covid-19 variants but this won’t remain the same if more people get infected with it.
If omicron reaches to a greater number of population it will eventually trigger a vicious death cycle due to involvement of vulnerable patients who are already having some medical preconditions.
Besides having night curfews, New Delhi is now set to shutdown every public activity during weekends. This scheduled is sooner going to be followed by other states thus acting as a precursor to Lockdown 3.0
However, even though we might even survive this new wave also but the thing which must be kept in mind is that our crippled economy won’t be anymore strong to bear the brunt of this new lockdown.
It will be the aftermath of this new lockdown that will create huge crisis than the COVID itself would have ever done.
