Samba, May 26 : Police under the guidance of Senior Superintendent of Police Samba Benam Tosh has solved sensational case of attempt to kidnap minor girl student from Samba and arrested the main accused involved in the case.
As per statement, the arrested main accused has been identified as Ashwani Singh s/o Harnam Singh alias Luddan r/o Beheri, tehsil & district Samba. Police has registered a case FIR No. 129/2023 u/s 341, 323, 382, 354, 363, 511 IPC, 7 POCSO Act at Police Station Samba and further interrogation of the accused is underway.
On Thursday, accused Ashwani Singh, who happens to be the son of a BSF personnel posted in some other state, intercepted a 17-year-old girl student at hospital road near NHW Samba, hit her with bike he was riding on, snatched mobile phone of the girl student, slapped her and beat up her with fists & blows, dragged her into Hyundai i20 car and along with his accomplice attempted to kidnap her away in the car. However, Samba Police quickly responded to the call received from the eye witnesses and with the active & timely assistance of the civilians rescued the minor student girl within 2-3 minutes after the incident, registered FIR and seized the bike.
Several teams of Police were deputed to different areas and police raids at the suspected hideouts continued all through the night. Today police succeeded in arresting the main accused who is being subjected to sustained interrogation. Further investigation is going on.
The main accused was arrested by police team comprising of SHO Police Station Samba Rajeshwar Singh and PSI Davinder Singh under the supervision of Addl. SP Samba Surinder Choudhary.
