BARAMULLA: In a major setback to Congress party, as many as nine Councilors from north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday joined Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party.
Nine councilors of Congress party into Apni Party were welcomed by its senior party leaders.
Reacting to the joining of Congress Councilors in Apni Party, Congress leader Sheikh Aamir called the councilors opportunist.
Talking to Kashmir Despatch, Aamir said that these Councilors had won an election on Congress party ticket and now they have deceived the mandate of the people who voted for them.
He added, “They have actually joined hands with the partners of the communal party BJP, which is on an all-out war against the sentiments of Kashmiri people. In the lust of power and chair, they have left the party, which will never compromise on its ideology”.
“We are a secular party and post abrogation Article 370, many workers and leaders have shifted sides to take benefits from the current communal regime”, Aamir added.
He further said that even if only one person remains in the Congress party, we will never compromise on our secular ideology and continue to work and serve our people.
