Man held for abondoning newborn in Ganderbal

GANDERBAL: Police in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Monday said that a man was arrested for abondoning a new born baby boy in the district.

In a statement issued to Kashmir Despatch which reads, police station Lar received a reliable information that one newly born baby boy was abondoned in the bushes near goriwan Lar by some unknown persons upon this information a case FIR No.62/2020 U/S 317 IPC dated 13/08/2020 was registered in P/S Lar. SHO Lar alongwith a Police party rushed on spot.

During assessment of scene of occurrence a live newly borne baby was found inside a half open cardboard box in the bushes at goriwan Lar.

The District Juvenile protection officer and District child welfare committee officials were intimated regarding the matter. The live body was immediately taken to Primary health center Lar.

     SSP Ganderbal Khalil poswal(JKPS) constituted a special  team headed by SHO Lar Inspector Salfie Arshid under supervision of DySP HQRS Dr. Abdul Majid (JKPS). During the course of investigation a number of suspects were questioned  besides technical assistance  from District surveillance team (ESU). After strenuous efforts and hardwork of team which worked 24×7 with a determination and following professional ethics  the case was cracked within few days. The accused namely Mir Suhail S/O Gulam Nabi Mir R/O Mir mohalla Benhama Ganderbal have been arrested and credible evidences have been collected by special police team to prosecute accused before court of Law.


    The local inhabitants of Lar Ganderbal hailed the swift action of police besides appreciation by higher ups of police department.
