People hailed the efforts of BRO and demanded widening and safety walls
Uri, March 03: After massive landslide triggered by recent rains and snow blocked Mohra- Baaz strategically important road link at Chillana due which sever village also got cut off in frontier sector Uri Baramulla however, Beacon authorities acted swiftly to ensure smooth passage to travellers and traffic.
Officiating Commander (OC) 53 RCC said that early morning commuters faced huge rock slide triggered by heavy rains and snow at KM 7,Choolan village at Mohra Baaz road on the intervening night of 1st and 2nd March. The slide cut the strategically important road which resulted in cutting across eight villages for the main town Uri town in Baramulla district.
“On receipt of information,the maintenance team and the heavy road clearance and earth cutting machinery was immediately rushed on the site on 2nd and 3rd March which carried out clearance of the strategically important road link. The side was cleared and road upto Baaz LoC was connected,” the offical confirmed.
” Heavy rock slide was removed and from road using mechanical equipment and manual resources to ensure smooth traffic movement. The connectivity was established by the evening of 2nd March though the widening of road is still in progress. The people hailed the efforts of the BRO authorities,” the official said.
People of the area and adjacent villages have hailed the Beacon of BRO and demanded widening of the road at warfooting besides safety walls.
” We are highly grateful to BRO for restoring the traffic movement by clearing the heavy rock slide on Mohra Baaz road due to which around eight villages were cut off. We demand swift widening and safety walls to ensure smooth movement of traffic and travellers,”a local resident Nowshad Ahmad said.
