MCB Councillors genuine demands on priority : DC Baramulla

Baramulla April 25: Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr. G.N. Itoo today chaired an interactive meeting with the councilors of Municipal Council Baramulla to get the appraisal of various issues with regard to the developmental scenario besides reviewing the functioning of Urban Local Bodies.

Joint Director Planning, President MCB,ARTO,Councillors besides various officers were present in the meeting.

On the occasion, the members put forth various problems and demands pertaining to their respective jurisdictions during which they raised various issues with regard to roads, drinking water, power supply, sports, employment, transport, essential commodities etc. They sought cooperation from the concerned departments to solve the problems of the people. They also demanded accommodation facilities to be provided to them so that their performance is not hampered in any way.

Meanwhile, DC assured them that their genuine demands would be considered on priority and the necessary steps shall be taken up for their fulfillment. DC said that elected representatives are part of the Government, so they have the responsibility to identify problems of their areas and convey the concerned officers in time so that these problems can be solved accordingly.

Dr Itoo exhorted upon them to play a proactive role in governance and said ULBs had a prominent role in the socio economic development of the society. He stressed for working in coordination and cooperation so that all the constraints, if any are resolved in a time bound manner.
