Doctor fiound involved in private practice during duty hours, locals demand action against erring medico

Qazigund, Feb 15 : A drug store was locked by the authorities in Qazigund area of Anantnag district on Saturday afternoon where a doctor was doing private practice during duty hours.
According to wire service—Tantray Pharmacy Drug Store located in front of the Emergency Hospital Qazigund was closed after complaints by locals that a government doctor is doing a private practice at the shop.
Assistant Director Health Services Kashmir Dr. Kassana accompanied with other Health officials on Saturday afternoon paid surprise visit to the clinic and found a doctor namely Aijaz Ahmad Bhat, General Physician presently posted in Emergency Hospital Qazigund doing private practice, said an official.
Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr Aasima Jan feigned ignorance about the incident. However, Block Medical Officer (BMO) Qazigund, Dr Zahoor Ahmad Tantray while confirming the incident said they won’t tolerate the private practice by the doctors.
“People must come forward. We have a designated committee to look after the issue of the private practice,” he said. Zahoor said they will take strict action against the erring doctors in Qazigund and people must turn up with complaints.
Earlier, the government banned private practice of doctors holding administrative posts like Principals, Medical Superintendents, Deputy Medical Superintendents, CMOs, BMOs, DIOs, DHOs, DHTUs, and HoDs in Government Medical Colleges, Government Dental Colleges and Associated Hospitals. (KNO)
