In 2020, Masrat Kar won the Urban Local Body (ULB) elections from Sopore and later was appointed as Chairperson of the Municipal Council (MC) Sopore. Through her impactful presence, efforts, and dedication, she changed the perception of the MC department, which was previously looked down upon. Since Masrat stepped in, the people’s perspective has shifted, and the MC has gained respect, especially for the unsung heroes who play a crucial role in cleaning the streets early in the morning. They received well-deserved recognition, all thanks to Masrat Rasool Kar.
Alongside development and infrastructure projects in Sopore, she has become a voice and support for the youth, inspiring many to come forward for the betterment of Sopore.
After a successful tenure as Chairperson of the MC, Masrat recently played an important role in the assembly elections for her brother.
It is said that Irshad Rasool Kar, who is now the MLA of Sopore constituency and won the Sopore seat with a heavy margin of votes, owes a significant part of his victory to his sister Masrat.
