MHA Withdraws 15 ITBP Companies From J&K, Ladakh

Srinagar, May 21 : The government of India has ordered the withdrawal of 15 companies of Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) from Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, officials told news agency on Thursday.


They said that among the 15 units comprising over 1,500 personnel, 8 are being withdrawn from the Kashmir region, three from Jammu and four from Ladakh.

The order by Ministry of Home Affairs follows the withdrawal of 10 CAPF companies, three belonging to the CISF, and the ITBP each besides two each from the CRPF and the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), last week.

As per reports, several hundred additional companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) were rushed to Jammu and Kashmir last year. Around a hundred companies have been already moved out, they added. (GNS)
