Militant hideout in cave busted in Poonch

Suspected material destroyed in Rajouri

Poonch, Nov 19 (KNO): Police on Tuesday claimed to have busted a hideout of militants in Sangla top village of Poonch, stating that a major tragedy was averted today as the recovered material includes seven heavy Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Poonch, Ramesh Angral told the wire service –Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that Army and Police jointly busted a militant hideout in the village.

He stated that seven heavy weight IEDs, one wireless set and a five-kg LPG cylinder were recovered in the hideout. SSP said that it was a major success for them as well as other forces, adding that the hideout was built in an old cave in the village.

Meanwhile, a suspected material was found in Rajouri district in the wee hours today. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rajouri, Yougal Manhas told KNO that Army patrolling party in this morning found a suspected material in Kalar village along Srinagar-Jammu highway.

He said that after finding the material, the traffic along the highway was closed for three hours while as bomb disposal squad was called in, who later destroyed the material. Manhas further stated that the areas was sanitized following which the traffic was allowed to ply again. (KNO)
