Militant killed in onging Ananthnag Gunfight

SRINAGAR, Oct 17 : One militant has been killed in an ongoing gunfight which broke out between militants and security forces in Larnoo area of South Kashmir’s Ananthnag district on Saturday morning.

An official told Kashmir Despatch that one militant has been killed sofar in the operation, he however, said the identity of the slain militant is yet to be ascertained.

The officer said earlier a joint team of Army’s 19 RR, SOG and CRPF conducted searches in Larnoo area following inputs about the presence of some militants.

As search party encircled the target house the hidding militants fired upon them thus triggering a gunfight he added.

Meanwhile, Army in a tweet said Op Larnoo, Anantnag.
A joint operation was launched today early morning based on JmuKmrPolice inputs. Cordon was laid and contact was established. Firefight ensued. One militant killed. One AK recovered. Joint operation in progress.

Pertinently, A militant was apprehended during a gunfight in Chadoora area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Friday.
