Militant killed in Shopian gunfight, operation on

Srinagar, September 23: A militant has been killed after an Encounter broke out between between militants and government forces in Kashew Chitragam area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Thursday.

Official sources told GNS that in intial exchange of gunfire, a militant has been killed. However identity of the slain militant is yet to be ascertained.

Reports reaching GNS that a joint team of Police, Army and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Kashew Chitragam.

As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight.(GNS)
