Minor drowns to death in Pattan

Srinagar, July 28: A minor boy was drowned to death in a nallah in north Kashmir’s Pattan on Tuesday.

Reports reaching Kashmir Despatch said a 08-year-old boy identified as Usman Ramzan of Babgund Pattan drowned in a Nallah while bathing with other friends.

However, his body was retrieved by locals present there and was taken to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead on arrival.

A police officer also confirmed this death to Kashmir Despatch.

It is pertinent to mention here, this is second such death since the last 24 hours in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

On Tuesday afternoon after 18 hours of hectic efforts body of the 13-year-old boy was fished out from the river Jhelum in Delina area Baramulla.

According to official confirmation, a 13-year-old identified as Hanan Ahmad Dar son of Javaid Ahmad Dar, a resident of Ravathpora, Delina slipped into river Jhelum at Jahama area on Monday when he was playing with other friends.
However, after 18 hours a rescue team comprising police, army, SDRF, and locals fished out the body of the boy on Tuesday afternoon.

A police officer said that after legal formalities the body was handed over to his family members for the last rites.
