Srinagar : Following the target killings of members of minority community by militants, several branches of Jammu and Kashmir Grameen Bank are closed in parts of Kashmir thus causing huge inconvenience to the people.
Scores of people from different parts of Kashmir including north Kashmir’s Sopore have claimed that they are facing huge inconvenience as they are not able to do their business transactions smoothly due to the closure of many branches across the valley.
The customers of Grameen Bank told Kashmir Despatch that it is a matter of concern for them.
“Closure of main branches is a worrisome issue for us as we can’t do the business transactions on time. We appeal the bank authorities to restore the service at earliest as it is causing great inconvenience to us,” said Abdul Rashid, a Grameen Bank customer in Sopore.
Notably around 80 percent non local employees are posted in Grameen banks across Kashmir and after the recent target killings of minorities most of the non local employees have started leaving Kashmir and had appealed to the Government to provide them adequate security and other protection for their livelihood.
Pertinently, A meeting led by home minister Amit Shah last week in New Delhi has decided that more than 8 safe zones will be created in the Valley for the safety and protection of minorities.
