MLA Bijbehara, Dr. Bashir Ahmad Veeri, has announced the allocation of ₹90 lakh from his Constituency Development Fund (CDF) to the Power Development Department (PDD) for strengthening and improving the electricity infrastructure across the Bijbehara constituency.
The announcement was made after Dr. Veeri chaired a comprehensive review meeting with PDD officials to take stock of ongoing power-related works and assess the overall condition of the electricity network in the area. The meeting also served as a platform to discuss public concerns, including frequent power interruptions, low voltage issues, and the need for upgradation of aging infrastructure.
During the meeting, the MLA stressed the importance of timely completion of sanctioned works and directed officials to ensure that the allocated funds are utilized judiciously and transparently. He urged the department to give priority to areas that continue to face persistent power problems so that residents can benefit from a stable and reliable electricity supply.
Dr. Veeri reiterated that strengthening basic infrastructure, particularly the power sector, remains a key focus of his development agenda. He said an improved electricity system is vital for the smooth functioning of households, commercial establishments, educational institutions, and healthcare facilities in the constituency.
Officials of the Power Development Department briefed the MLA on the progress of ongoing projects and assured him that the ₹90 lakh allocation would be used for upgrading transformers, distribution lines, and other essential components of the power network to enhance overall efficiency and service delivery in Bijbehara.
