Bandipora, Oct 30: The Member of the Legislative Assembly from the Gurez Valley, Nazir Ahmad Khan, has accused workers from a rival political party of throwing stones at his vehicles during his visit to Tulail Valley yesterday.
In a video obtained by Kashmir Despatch, Nazir Ahmad Khan stated that he visited various areas of Tulail to thank his voters for re-electing him in the recent assembly polls. “I arrived in Tulail around 3:30 PM yesterday, planning to visit Gujran, the last village in Tulail, to meet my supporters. However, the police stopped me, stating that a large number of people, including men and women, had gathered there, and I was not permitted to proceed,” he explained.
He further claimed that several of his party’s workers sustained injuries during the incident and confirmed that a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed regarding the altercation, expressing hope that strict action would be taken against those involved. “Several employees and relatives of the opposing party participated in this incident and hurled stones at our vehicles,” he added.
Meanwhile, the District Development Council (DDC) member for Tulail, Raja Ajaz, addressed the media and accused NC MLA Nazir Ahmad Khan of harassing BJP workers during his campaign and subsequent rallies. He further alleged that NC workers had thrown stones at several houses in Gujran and verbally abused women during their visit to Tulail yesterday, leading to clashes between party workers and resulting in injuries to several individuals, including a girl who is currently hospitalized.
“I urge the BJP high command to intervene in this matter, take strict action against those involved, and ensure the safety of our workers,” Raja Ajaz stated.
A case has been registered under the relevant sections of the law, and an investigation is underway; however, no arrests have been made thus far.
