SRINAGAR, April 08 : Apni Party Senior Leader and Former Minister Mohammad Dilawar Mir on Thursday expressed deep shock and grief over the demise of former Kashmir University Vice Chancellor Prof. Riyaz Punjabi who after a brief illness passed away today at his Delhi residence.
In a statement issued here, Mir described the deceased as a good friend and a thorough gentleman who was a renowned academician besides an efficient and visionary administrator.
“His contributions in the academic fields are immense and he will always be remembered especially for his unstinted efforts in regards with further the growth and development of Kashmir University,” he said.
He prayed for the eternal peace to the departed soul and expressed profound solidarity with the bereaved family in this time of distress.
“I pray to the Almighty to bestow his mercy on the departed soul and grant courage to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss” Mir prayed.
