Mughal Road closed due to fresh snowfall

Srinagar : The Mughal road, connecting Shopian and Poonch districts, has been closed due to fresh snowfall along the thoroughfare, officials said on Saturday.

An official told Kashmir Despatch that the road has been closed as it was snowing near Peer Ki Gali. “The traffic has been closed on both sides as a precautionary measure.

The officer further added that due to heavy rainfall, NH-44 has also blocked at Cafeteria Morh near Ramban and efforts are on to restore the road at earliest.

Pertinently, rains lashed plains while the upper reaches received fresh snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir since midnight, officials said on Saturday.

The weatherman has forecast that the prevailing weather conditions will continue till forenoon on Monday.
