Srinagar, Jan 21 : Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir on Tuesday said that multi-tier security have been put in place across the region to ensure a peaceful and secure environment for the Republic Day celebrations.

Speaking with the reporters in Srinagar, IGP said that the comprehensive measures, including increased surveillance, checkpoints, and deployment of additional security forces, are aimed at maintaining law and order during the celebrations.

On Sopore encounter, the top cop said that the operation ended with the loss of an army personnel.

“The operation, launched on specific intelligence inputs, involved the busting of a militant hideout. During the exchange of fire, an army jawan sustained critical injuries and later succumbed,” the IGP said—(KNO)
