Divided into three distinct parts, the manifesto outlines the party’s vision for the region’s future, emphasizing a blend of immediate reforms, long-term commitments, and a detailed strategic plan.
Part 1: Core Promises
The first section of the manifesto contains 12 key promises that are central to the NC’s election campaign. These promises are aimed at restoring the rights and dignity of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, with a focus on justice, security, and welfare:
1. Repeal of the Public Safety Act (PSA): The NC pledges to repeal the PSA, a controversial law that has been criticized for its use in detaining individuals without trial.
2. Release of Political Prisoners: Committed to restoring political normalcy, the NC promises to release all political prisoners held under various charges.
3. Dignified Return of Kashmiri Pandits: The manifesto reiterates the party’s commitment to ensuring the safe and honorable return of Kashmiri Pandits to their homeland.
4. Eased Passport Verification: The NC promises to simplify the passport verification process, making it more accessible and less cumbersome for residents.
5. End to Unjust Terminations: The party assures to review and halt the unjust termination of employees, particularly those dismissed on vague or unsubstantiated grounds.
6. Cessation of Harassment on Highways: The NC vows to end the unnecessary harassment of residents on highways, ensuring smooth and safe travel for all.
