The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway has been closed due to a landslide near Ramsoo in Ramban district, Jammu and Kashmir following heavy rain and snowfall in the Valley.
The NH-44 was shot dur to snow accumulation between Ramsoo and Qazigund, shooting stones, and landslides between Nashri and the NAVYUG Tunnel, news agency ANI reported.
As a result, vehicles, including trucks, buses, and passenger vehicles were halted at Jakhani in Udhampur. The traffic police in the area are not allowing any vehicle to cross Jakhani due to the closed highway.
Meanwhile, the Border Roads Organisation is engaged in snow clearance at the Srinagar airport runway following fresh snowfall in the the Valley today.
SDRF Rescues 11 Trapped At Construction Site At Ujh River In Kathua
As many as 11 labourers working at a construction site at Ujh river in Kathua were rescued by the SDRF and local police teams after the river flooded due to heavy rainfall.
“Early in the morning, 11 labourers/employees of Megha Construction Company got trapped in the flood at a construction site at Ujh River. A police team from Rajbagh, along with SDRF, reached the spot and rescued all of them. The labourers/employees have been shifted to safer locations,” SDRF Inspector Mohd Iqbal said.
An SDRF official told news agency PTI that they received a call at around 5 AM regarding the trapped workers. They rushed to the spot and began the rescue operation immediately.
Two persons, including a boy, were killed in another rain-related incident in Jammu after the higher reaches witnessed snowfall and the plains received rains for the second day on Thursday. (Agencies )
