“Sikh community being ignored in DCC elections”

Suhail Khan

Srinagar, Nov 21: The District Development Council (DDC) election candidate Ravinder Singh (Banti) from Rohama constituency in north Kashmir’s Baramulla District on Saturday said that political parties in valley be it National Conference or Peoples Democratic Party are doing nothing except ‘befooling’ people in the region.

Reacting to the statement of former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti of not contesting elections untill the flag of Jammu and Kashmir is not returned, Raina told Kashmir Despatch said, “It is ironic that the former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti said that she won’t fight the elections until the flag of J&K is not returned, while as she and her party are going to fight elections for DDC under the same flag”.

He added, “The Sikh community in the Baramulla district were ignored in the recent announcement of candidates of Peoples Alliance of Gupkar Declaration and that is why I have decided to contest the DDC elections and do something for every community”.

“Moreover, with PDP, NC and Congress party coming together and fighting elections show their desperation to the stay in power. But they must understand that the youth have understood their policy and they will show them the new change in upcoming DDC elections”, he added.
