Lockdown, Procedural protocols were kept at their place on Wednesday when people in north Kashmir’s Sopore town rushed to their banks for withdrawal of Rs 500, which was recently announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi against Jan Dhan Yojna scheme.

Reports reaching Kashmir Despatch said, All banks in the district resumed their services after five days on the order of deputy commissioner Baramulla, however Wednesday morning surprised eveyone when people in large number were seen at different branches in Sopore town, including TP Brach, Chinkipora Branch to withdraw schemed Rs @500.

This bizzare episode not only erupted a panic among the residents but it won’t be wrong to mention, it will drastically support pandemic virus to contaminate many people in already declared red zone Sopore.

A top official in Jammu and Kashmir Bank in a chat with Kashmir Despatch said, amid this COVID-19 prime minister Narendra Modi annouced Rs 500 against Jan dhan Yojna scheme shall be credited into the accounts of poor and needy sections of the society, he said keeping in mind the under going circumstances we have constituted teams who can visit their door step and get this transaction done. Officer however added, we are putting ourselves at risk by coming to banks but at the same time people should also realize the consiquences of the virus and should follow the procedural protocol and other guidelines issued by admin. The officer appealed people to maintain social distance and avoid unnecessary visit to banks.

Meanwhile Station House officer Sopore Azim Iqbal told it’s really unfortunate to see the ill behaviour of people by defying the advisories and orders of government for just @ 500 Rs, he said I can understand the economic conditions of such families but under given circumstances they are not only putting their lives at risk but they may become the reason by spreading this virus in town. Officer said it’s time to protect themselves and their families from this deadly enemy and people should be serious as their life is more worthy than this @500. He said if general public is not going to co-operate, it will be like a disaster in town and people will be responsible themselves for it.
