Baramulla, May 8: A team from NITI Aayog on Thursday visited various health facilities across the Kashmir Valley to assess healthcare services and interact with medical staff and frontline health workers.
The team, headed by Amitesh Kumar Panday, visited Ayushman Arogya Mandir (AAM)–SHC Kansipora in Sheeri Block of Baramulla district.
During the visit, the dignitary inspected the healthcare facility and reviewed the medical services being provided to the general public and patients. He also interacted with doctors, paramedical staff, and other healthcare professionals regarding the functioning of the institution.
The visiting team held discussions with ASHA workers from the area, acknowledging their important role as a bridge between the community and healthcare service providers. The efforts of healthcare professionals and grassroots workers in delivering public health services were appreciated during the interaction.
Mr. Panday also praised the contribution of ASHA workers in achieving public health goals and termed them a strong workforce at the grassroots level.
A delegation of ASHA workers led by Firdosa Akhter apprised the visiting official of several demands, including the provision of smartphones and enhancement of incentives for ASHA workers.
The team was accompanied by Tehniya Bashir during the visit.
