Baramulla : Twelve councillors of the Municipal Council Baramulla have submitted a no-confidence motion against council president Tawseef Raina on Friday.
Sources told Kashmir Despatch that out of 19 members 12 councilors of MC submitted a no confidence motion against the incumbent president.
Talking to Kashmir Despatch, Former president MC Baramulla, Omar Kakroo said this step is not meant to hurt someone, but one year has passed and the present MC President was unable to come up to the expectations of the councilors and the people.
A submission letter copy of which lies with the Kashmir Despatch reads, “With due regard we the majority elected councilors of Municipal Council Baramulla draw your attention towards the submission of no-confidence motion against president MC Baramulla namely Tawseef Raina.
As we are submitting the no-confidence motion against president MC Baramulla, Tawseef Raina as he has failed to deliver his duties towards the general public as well as for the institution.”
“It is pertinent to mention that from last one year major funds lapsed due to the inefficiency of the president. So we the majority of the elected councilors are of the opinion that we want to replace the said post with some another elected councilor as per the J&K Municipal Act- 2000,” the letter further reads.
The councillors have mentioned that they give their consent by signing the resolution without any complusion/ force. “We are doing this by our will. Further no signature should be entertain without this resolution for the said subject,” the letter reads.
So kindly, acknowledge our no-confidence motion against the president, Tawseef Raina as per the J&K Municipal Act-2000 rules and bylaws, the order copy further reads.
