Srinagar, Oct 31: In a latest development in Srinagar Municipal Corporation, two councilors have moved a No-Confidence motion against the incumbent Deputy Mayor of the Corporation Parvaiz Qadri.

Sources told news agency that two councilors Nasir Ahmad Naikoo and Danish Bhat, both from Zadibal assembly constituency, have moved the No-Confidence motion against the incumbent Deputy Mayor Parvaiz Qadri, who is also holding the chair of acting Mayor, since Junaid Matto, the former Mayor was ousted from the post, through a similar move.

Insiders told news agency that the No Confidence motion was accepted and voting will be held on 2nd November in the corporate hall of SMC.

Pertinently, On July 16 this year, 38 councilors of SMC had moved a No-Confidence motion against the incumbent Deputy Mayor Parvaiz Qadri, but on Aug 26 when floor test was held, Qadri survived after 44 councilors voted in his favour, while 26 voted against him.

Meanwhile, Parvaiz Qadri while reacting on the move raised questions on the motion being accepted.

He said,”Municipal Corporation Act states that no motions within 6 months of last election shall be maintained. SMC Commissioner should come forward with a suitable justification for breaking municipal corporation act.”

He also alleged that forged signatures have been used to file the no confidence motion. (KDC)
