Srinagar, June 23 : Day-long search operation for fleeing militants underway in the woods of Lolab in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district officials said.
Senior Superintendent of police Kupwara, Shriram Ambarkar told Kashmir Despatch that no fresh contact has been established in the forest area of Lolab, he said the search is still going on inside the dense forests for the fleeing militants.
An army official told Kashmir Despatch that on the other side of the forest Army’s 22 RR have also launched a search operation at Zaingeer belt it’s neighbouring forest area.
The mixture of forces including Army’s 28 RR, Police and CRPF had cordon off the woods of Lolab on Tuesday morning after receiving inteligence inputs about the presence of militants in the area.
In the initial search operation, A brief exchange of gunfire took place between security forces and militants in the woods of Lolab on Tuesday morning.
