Srinagar, Sep 24: Ending speculations, Jammu and Kashmir government has decided to hold annual examination of all the classes as per the academic schedule in the valley.

This follows the rumors about granting mass promotion to students akin to the 2016 agitation.

Speaking to this reporter Director School Education Kashmir (DSEK), Dr Younis Malik said: “Examination of all classes will be held on time. As per the monthly assessment report, schools have completed 60-70% of the syllabus. We are distributing assignments among the students so that rest of syllabus could be completed on time.”

Education department has asked the students to contact their respective schools for the assignments and prepare for their exams.

However, an official at Government Boys Middle School, Raj Bagh, said no student has visited the school since August 5.

“We have prepared study material for the students so that they could prepare for the exams. Students should come and collect their assignments from the schools,” said the official.

Advisor to Governor, Farooq Ahmad Khan said examination of high and higher secondary will be held as per yearly schedule of Board of School Education (BOSE) in the Kashmir valley.

“There will be no mass promotion. Students will have to appear in the annual examination that will be conducted on time,” he said.

The government ordered closure of all education institutions including colleges, universities and engineering institutions as precautionary measures on August 5. However, in the last week of August government announced reopening of the primary schools followed by middle and secondary schools.
