No more rains; MeT: Efforts on to restore Highway: Officials

Srinagar Mar 13: The Metrological Department on Friday said there would be a significant improvement in weather from today after days of rains in plains and snowfall in the upper reaches of the Valley.

An official in Metrological Department Srinagar told Kashmir Despatch that there is no possibility of more rains, he said the weather will improve from today.

Meanwhile, the rainfall from the last two days had wreaked havoc on Srinagar-Jammu Highway due to frequent landslides on 280 Km long National Highway which connects Kashmir Valley to rest of India.
However, according to sources hundreds of vehicles are still strained from Banihal to Udhampur, due to intermittent landslides, by which the trucks carrying essential commodities like gas, oil, Medicines, Vegetables are facing a lot of inconveniences.

An official in traffic department told Kashmir Despatch, efforts continued on Friday to clear the debris of a massive landslide that blocked the strategic Jammu-Srinagar national highway. Officials added men and machinery on the job to restore the traffic at the earliest.


Fresh snowfall at Jawahar Tunnel and shooting stones and landslides in the Keri area of Udhampur on Thursday afternoon, leaving thousands of commuters stranded.
