Says people have misconception about fortified rice

SRINAGAR, Oct 13: Executive Director, FSSAI, SBCD Inoshi Sharma on Thursday said that there is no plastic rice being distributed or being made available at Fair Price Shops of consumer affairs and public distribution department across the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Talking to media as per Kashmir Despatch Correspondent, she said people have misconception about fortified rice. “They misconstrue fortified rice with that of plastic rice but it is just a myth.”
She said this is rice only with the same flavour, same taste and shares the same method of packing. Ms Sharma rebutted reports about plastic rice being distributed at fair price shops. However, she appealed to people to inform them that if they have any genuine complaints they should immediately inform the department so that the action warranted under law is taken.
