SRINAGAR: The patients and attendants visiting Shifa Medical Centre Magarmal Bagh Srinagar have claimed that there are no SOP and social distance maintained inside the premises which can put their life at risk.

The Kashmir Despatch has learnt through many attendants and patients who visited the Shifa Medical Centre Magarmal Bagh, Srinagar that hospital witnesses huge rush throughout the day with no officials from the institute taking care of the SOP and social distancing.

“My mother was not well and I thought I should visit Shifa Medical Centre for medical checkup. But to my surprise, there was a huge rush at the private hospital. Our temperature was not checked, while patients and attendants were sitting close to each other, which was very scary”, alleged Anees Malik a resident of Bemina.

“Attendants and patients were sitting to close each other, there were no SOP’s forget about social distancing”, he added.

“I had an appointment with one of the doctors at the Shifa Medical Centre but as entered the premises, there were no SOP’s, social distancing in entire hospitals and more importantly health officials in the hospital were least bothered about the situation. I had to cancel the appointment and had to go to other private hospitals for the treatment”, alleged Shabana Bhat.

She added, “These private hospitals are more concerned about money and nothing else. They are least bothered about patients and attendants”.

“What if god forbid, a Covid-19 patient enters premises and come in contact with anybody. There will be a huge disaster in the hospital and many families will get involved as no SOP’s and other protocols are being maintained the Shifa Medical Center”, said one of the attendants at the hospital.

Meanwhile, a senior health official told Kashmir Despatch that let attendants or patients come to us and write a complaint. And we will ensure the action as per the complaint. Also, it is important for patients or attendants to come forward in such issues.
