Srinagar, Sep 4: The Tourism Department on Thursday issued an advisory restricting trekking activities in parts of north Kashmir in view of the prevailing weather conditions and public safety concerns.
According to the advisory issued by the Office of the Assistant Director Tourism, Gulmarg as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, no trekking activity shall be undertaken in areas falling under its jurisdiction including Baramulla, Bandipora and Kupwara districts without prior permission from the competent authority.
“It is further clarified that even short treks in lower areas shall not be undertaken without due authorization, as such activities are unsafe in the present circumstances,” the advisory reads.
The Tourism Department has cautioned that any violation will be at the sole risk and responsibility of the concerned individual, urging all to adhere strictly to the instructions issued in the interest of public safety.
