Srinagar, Jan 10 : The ‘expelled’ Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders Friday said that nobody has the power to expel them from the party except its president Mehbooba Mufti.
The expelled leaders include Dilwar Ahmed Mir, Rafi Ahmed Mir, Raja Manzoor, Noor Muhammad, Abdul Majeed Padar, Abdul Rahim Rather, Zafar Manhas, Javaid Hussain Beigh , Chowdhary Qamar Husain.
According to wire service—at least nine leaders were ‘expelled’ by the party on Thursday evening from basic membership of party on violation of party discipline.
The expelled leaders, however, said that the members of ‘Discipline Action Committee’ are under detention and those who have made such statement, are not authorized to expel anyone from the party.
Rafi Ahmad Mir while talking to news agency said that he is still a PDP’s man and nobody except Mehbooba Mufti is authorized to expel any party leader. “At present the leadership is under detention. I was just released from detention and in case I have gone against the rules, then a show cause notice should have been issued against me. I am still a PDP man and nobody can expel me without Mehbooba Mufti,” he said.
Abdul Majeed Paddar, another expelled leader said that they cannot be expelled by the party. “Those who have expelled us from the party should reveal that where this meeting was held, who was heading the meeting and who has made such a decision,” he said.
He further said that they have made the party and nobody can expel them.
Abdul Rahim Rather, who is also among the list of expelled leaders, said that “soon after being released, we met the foreign envoys yesterday wherein we informed them the situation in Kashmir was not good. We met them for the people. We had no personal reasons in meeting them. I don’t understand that what was wrong in meeting them and how we have gone against the party rules.”
He further alleged that it was Suhail Bukhari, a journalist-turned-politician who has issued such a statement, adding that Bukhari is junior and therefore has no authority to expel the party leaders. (KNO)
