Bandipora, May 4: A non-local individual was injured after strong gusty winds struck the Sumbal area of Bandipora district on Monday, officials said.
The injured person was immediately shifted to CHC Sumbal for treatment. Eyewitnesses said that sudden high-speed winds created panic in the area, uprooting trees and demaged structures. The intensity of the winds, accompanied by rains, led to disruptions in normal life.
Gusty winds swept across Kashmir, with rains lashing the plains and fresh snowfall reported in higher reaches, disrupting normal life in several areas.
Meanwhile, several parts of North Kashmir reported damage to residential houses, shops, and other structures due to the ongoing spell of gusty winds and rainfall. Tin roofs were blown off at multiple locations, while trees were uprooted, affecting movement on some roads.
Weather conditions varied across the region, with plains receiving light to moderate rainfall, while higher reaches of Gurez experienced fresh snowfall.
Authorities have urged residents to remain indoors during severe weather conditions and advised precautionary measures to avoid any untoward incidents.
