Not more than 240 militants active in Kashmir, says DGP Singh

Srinagar, May 19: Director General of J&K police Dilbagh Singh on Tuesday said “Not more than 240 militants are active in Kashmir.


As per Kashmir Despatch Correspondent DGP Dilbagh Singh while addressing media said, 73 militants were killed this year so far and 95 militants and their associates were arrested. He said number keeps on floating and in entire Kashmir of active militants, he said the number is far less than the last year.


Pertinently, DGP said this when he was briefing media over Nawa Kadal gunfight where Hizbul Mujahideen’s divisional commander for Central Kashmir Junaid Sehrai, the son of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat chairman Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai was killed along with his associate Tariq Ahmed Sheikh from Pulwama district of South Kashmir on Tuesday.
