SRINAGAR, Jul 4: Hameeda Begum, mother of renowned All India Radio (Srinagar) Broadcaster and Editor ‘Sheherbeen’ programme Maqsood Ahmad, passed away here on Monday evening.

She was 74.


Begum, as per her family, was admitted at SMHS Hospital Srinagar last week.

After several days of treatment, she breathed her last this evening, family sources said.
The deceased was aunt of GNS and Kashmir Uzma correspondent Zaffer Iqbal.


The funeral prayers to the departed soul, as per her family, will be held at her native village Garkote Uri anytime after 11 PM.


The Kashmir Despatch Editor-in-Chief Syed Basharat has expressed heartfelt condolences on the demise of Hameeda Begum and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and forbearance to the bereaved family especially to Maqsood Ahmad and Zaffer Iqbal to bear this irreparable loss.
