Srinagar, August 18 : In a sharp critique of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah accused the party of being overly confident and setting unrealistic expectations in the run-up to elections.
Omar said that BJP’s ambitious slogans, including their claim of ‘400 seats,’ are a clear reflection of their overconfidence.”
Omar said that BJP has always emphasized numbers, like in 2014 when they claimed they would win 45 seats in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections.”
He added that while the BJP focused on numbers, their actual performance in the national elections fell short, stopping at 240 seats, far from the projected 400.
Omar further said that National Conference, approaches elections with humility and realistic expectations.
“We are hopeful of getting the people’s support and a chance to govern. We are not obsessing over the number of seats, unlike the BJP,” he said.
Omar advised BJP leaders to refrain from making exaggerated claims about electoral victories and instead focus on addressing real issues.(KNS)
