PAGD condemns interference in the religious rights of Dr Farroq Abdullah

Drass, Oct 30, :Omar Abdullah led ‘Peoples Alliance for Gupkar declaration’ delegation on Friday visited Kargil and held meetings with local leadership there.

According to Kashmir Despatch, People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration leaders Omar Abdullah , Muzaffer Shah, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura, Nasir Aslam Wani, and Waheed-ur-Rehman Para arrived in Drass on Friday early morning to meet local leaders.

“Warmly received by the people of Drass, who in one voice endorsed the agenda of the People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration,” tweeted Omar Abdullah.

Duirng his speech, Omar Abdullah assured the people of Drass that PAGD will fight for restoration of pre-August 5 position of J&K till end.

” We have come here to assure you about the fight we have started to take it to conclusion and take you along in this fight. People of Ladakh are on in our mind and heart no matter you live across the Zojila, ” he said.

He added that the division of the J&K was done without caring about the opinion of people.

” See earlier division of all states.people were taken on board..but here a unilateral decesion was taken. We have been bitterly fighting against each other..but this time fight is for different thing. This is not about votes. We have to present a united front,” he told a large gathering of people and leaders.

“We have come here to see ground situation and talk with leaders and people here on the directions of Farooq Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti,” he added.

Meanwhile, Senior Vice President Awami National Conference (ANC) Muzaffer Shah who is signatory of Peoples alliance at Drass on Friday alsosaid that PAGD and Kargil Democratic alliance’s motive is single to fight for the restoration of article 370.

During his speech shah said we reject the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and said not a single inch of land from Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh will be given to anyone.

Both the committees will work together in close coordination and contact for the restoration of article 370 he added.

Pertinently, Former Chief Minister  and National Confrence President Farooq Abdullah on Friday said that oppression is being committed against Muslims.

Meanwhile, The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference on Friday denounced the incumbent J&K government for barring Party President, Member of Parliament from Srinagar Dr. Farooq Abdullah from offering Friday prayers at Asar-e-Sharief Hazratbal following Eid-e-Milad Observance.

Party General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar strongly denounced the administration move for restraining Dr. Farooq to his house and disallowing him from offering Friday congregational prayers at Dargah Sharif, terming the measure as blatant interference in one’s fundamental rights and religious affairs.

He said such tactics besides going against the freedom of religion enshrined in the country’s constitution are also unheard of in the emancipated world.

“The administration blocked the residence of the party president on Friday morning and stopped him from offering prayers at Dargah Hazratbal. The party condemns this infringement of fundamental right to pray, especially on the occasion of Milad –Un- Nabi (SAW) observance. It is the one of the steepest developments in Kashmir post unilateral, unconstitutional and undemocratic abrogation of Article 370, 35-A to not allow people to offer prayers,” he said in a statement issued to Kashmir Despatch.

Meanwhile, The PAGD has condemned the actions of the state administration who have put blockade outside the residence of the president of PAGD Dr. Farroq Abdullah.

In a statement issued to Kashmir Despatch, PAGD spokesperson Sajad Lone said that Doctor Farooq Abdullah was slated to go to Hazratbal in order to participate in the religious congregation on account of EID MILAD Ul NABI however was barred from leaving his house.

“We strongly condemn the actions of the state administration which is tantamount to interference in the religious rights of Dr Farroq Abdullah. This marks a new low in the curtailment of fundamental rights of the people of J and K. We demand that the blockade be removed so that Dr Farroq Sahib is able to perform his religious duties”

The PAGD also condemns unequivocally and unambiguously the brutal killing of three workers of the BJP.

“Political differences cannot justify use of violence. Violence has always and will crowd out sanity. We will always fight aggression in all its forms irrespective of the source of aggression”, he added.
