SOPORE, Mar 8: Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr. Syed Sehrish Asgar said on Wednesday that in around 90 percent of cases of domestic violence against women and other families, disputes had been settled since the One Stop Centre was launched in the district.
Dr. Sehrish, while speaking on the occasion of International Women’s Day in north Kashmir’s Sopore as per Kashmir Despatch said that District Baramulla was the first district in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir that in a record time to establish a One Stop Centre in October last year, and since then, around 200 cases of domestic violence and other family disputes have been registered. The Baramulla administration has so far succeeded in solving around 90 percent of these cases with proper counselling, compromising legal advice, and saving the families, DC said.
She said wherever there is violence against women, they should raise their voices, and whenever they need help, whether in counselling to maintain confidentiality, they will do it.
She said collective efforts are important for a successful society.
DC said the best human is the one who can feel the pain of others and can play an important role in a successful society.
Pertinently, the One Stop Centre was launched by the social welfare department in Baramulla, wherein cases of domestic violence and other family disputes are settled.
“The motive behind establishing the OSC is to avoid disputes in families and put a check on violence against women.”
