Talking to Greater Kashmir, SSP Srinagar, Dr. Mughal said the exercise is being carried out to update the data for policing. “We have the details of gurduwars, masajids and other religious institutions. It is part of normal policing,” he said.

“Please provide details of mosques and their managements falling without your respective jurisdictions as per enclosed proforma to this office immediately for onward submission to higher authorities,” read an order issued by the Srinagar senior superintendent of police to the zonal SPs on Sunday night.

The order, which is being widely circulated on social media, has added to the speculation that the Centre might have plans to do away with Article 35A, which gives exclusive rights to the state’s residents in government jobs and land. These speculations have dominated the discourse in Kashmir over the past few days after the Centre decided to rush an additional 100 companies of central armed paramilitary forces to the valley. The mainstream political parties have vowed to resist any such move to tinker with the special status.

‘Omar Abdullah’s statement on 35-A removal dangerous, smacks of party’s hidden motives’

Srinagar, Jul 29 : Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday reacted sharply to the statement issued by the NC General Secretary Ali Mohd Sagar, terming his claims as fabricated, farce and an outright lie.

In a statement issued, PDP General Secretary Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura termed it unfortunate that NC leadership in order to score browny points within the party is busy spreading lies and hoodwinking people.  According to Hanjura, Mr Sagar should recall the speech of NC Founder Sheikh Abdullah on the floor of the state legislative assembly on March 2, 1981 in which he declared Jammu and Kashmir’s special status as a major road block in state’s prosperity and development and stated that Article 370 was not a Quranic verse that cannot be amended. “The minutes of this session are very much available in the records of state legislature and cannot be accessed any time,” said Hanjura.

He added that history bears testimony to the fact that it was national conference that has bulldozed the institutions of democracy and justice in the state and the emergence of the PDP on state’s political landscape was only to thwart NC’s nefarious deigns.

He said that Sagar and his ilk must rack their brains to recall that the PDP government engaged the top lawyers of the country to defend the state’s special status in country’s top court and has been declaring it incontestable  and irrevocable at all podiums and platforms.

Hanjura said unlike what Omar Abdullah did to Shopian rape and murder case in the year 2009, Mehbooba Mufti put her government on stake for the justice of Rasana rape victim.

He said that one must ask NC why  in spite of being the Prime Minister did the NC founder accept the post of the Chief Minster in 1975 and why on 5 July 1975, plebiscite front  for which people rendered immense sacrifices was formally dissolved by him. “During the elections of 1977, in order to hoodwink the people of the state particularly those of Kashmir Valley NC sought to raise false issues to obtain support for his party. The party talked of Kashmir and told audiences that they are a separate nation. What it didn’t tell the people of Jammu and Kashmir is the fact that it itself has rendered article 370 in effective by accepting it as a temporary and transitional provisions of Indian constitution in 1947 and by striking a deal with the union of India in 1975,” said Hanjura.

He added that when NC came to power in 1996 with a brute majority  and its autonomy resolution was thrown into the dustbin by central Government, why Farooq Abdullah didn’t leave his chair? “In fact, he kept lobbying for the post of Vice President of India and  his that demand was rejected, he pleaded for a junior ministerial berth for his son. To do that, he bartered all the resources of the state and sold precious power projects to centre,” Hanjura said.

He added that the government led by Omar then unleashed terror to the extent that a 12 class student namely Burhan Wani left home and became face of militancy.  According to Hanjura, the cricket scam, Haji Yousuf’s murder ,killing of 120 teenagers and denial of justice to them is still fresh in peoples memory.  He added that at present NC is ready to help in scarping 35-A on the condition that it will be made part of next government in JK.

“The recent statement of Omar Abdullah is the clear indication that NC will not object to scraping of 35-A. However, PDP will never allow this to happen and can go to any extent in safeguarding JK’s unique position and core interests,” said Hanjura.

PKL 7: Bengaluru Bulls overpower U Mumba in close contest

0

Mumbai : Riding on a terrific raid performance by Pawan Sehrawat, Bengaluru Bulls beat U Mumba by 30-26 in a Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) season 7 match here on Sunday.

The match was built as the battle between Bengluru”s Sehrawat and U Mumba”s Fazel Atrachali and it was the raider who came out on top.

The home side displayed a strong performance in their home stadium against Puneri Paltan and was more than ready to face Bengaluru, against whom they have their second best record with 10 victories. However, Sehrawat got a Super 10 and single-handedly flipped the table for Bengaluru as they sneaked their way through victory.

Strong performances by Arjun Deshwal and Atrachali went in vain as some unforced errors towards the end cost them the match.

Things started to even out when the previous match”s super-sub Deshwal from U Mumba was called out of bounds after a review by Bengaluru. Bengaluru took the lead by the 11th minute but Atrachali”s men covered the lead by the 14th minute.

Meanwhile, Sehrawat got his 300th raid point in the form of a sneaky back kick on Atrachali.

The game continued to shift from one team to the other as the first half ended with Bengaluru leading 13-11.

U Mumba carried some momentum in the second half after they got Bengaluru All-Out in the 24th minute to take the lead from Bengaluru to 16-13. Sehrawat made an immediate comeback as he flipped over a diving Sandeep Narwal”s back to cross the mid-line. Sehrawat had to keep his persona at side as he played cautiously with no help from his fellow raiders, while U Mumba”s Deshwal continued to prove himself as more than just a one match wonder as he got 6 touch points in a game.

Sehrawat made a strong raid as he got Narwal and danger man Deshwal in his 37th minute raid to inch closer to U Mumba with the score reading 23-22. It was an unforced error by Rohit Baliyan when he was the last man on the mat for U Mumba as he entered the lobby without a touch which inferred an All-Out on U Mumba.

It was a slim lead but a slender one that led Bengaluru to take over the match with the game ended with the score reading 30-26 in their favour.

Trump’s offer of mediation on Kashmir more than Pak’s expectations: Qureshi

0

US President Donald Trump’s offer of mediation on Kashmir during Prime Minister Imran Khan’s first visit to Washington was “more than Pakistan’s expectations”, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said.

Talking to a private news channel, Qureshi also said that Prime Minister Khan “made the US realised that Kashmir is a flashpoint”, which requires an early resolution, state-run Radio Pakistan reported.

Trump last week offered to be the “mediator” between India and Pakistan on the Kashmir issue during his first meeting with Prime Minister Khan at the White House.

India firmly rejected Trump’s offer, saying that New Delhi’s consistent position has been that all outstanding issues with Pakistan are discussed only bilaterally.

The offer of mediation by President Trump during Prime Minister Khan’s visit to Washington was “more than Pakistan’s expectations,” Qureshi said.

He said that India’s “adamant attitude on Kashmir issue can cost it heavy” and claimed that the situation in the Valley is “deteriorating”. He said the US President was informed that Pakistan is a peace loving country and desires peace in the region including with India.

ICW 2019: My models are my showstoppers, says Tarun Tahiliani

New Delhi, July 29 “I don”t need any other lovely face to be my showstopper. My models are my showstopper. They are who make my outfits shine on the ramp,” said ace designer Tarun Tahiliani as he drew curtains of the FDCI India Couture Week (ICW) 2019 on Sunday with the launch of his collection titled “Bloom”.

His show, held at Bikaner House here, did not see any Bollywood personality or a socialite walking the ramp as showstopper but a model, wearing a white net dress with a sticker of “showstopper chic”, and a covered face.

Tahiliani explained that the model with the “showstopper” badge was covering her face to symbolise that the show should not be about anyone”s face but about the outfit. “My models are my stars. That was why I did not have any movie star as my showstopper,” said Tahiliani.

Tahiliani”s collection titled “Bloom” was inspired by the “metamorphosis of the Indian bride with a synthesis of different cultures”.

“It was all Indian, presented in a modern style.”

The collection comprised 72 pieces of bridal couture, occasion and festive wears, dominated by classic Indian styles and embroideries.

The designer has used a lot of Indian techniques like chikankari, mukaish embroidery, kashida — a fine zari work frim Kashmir used around prints, jammevar and resham thread embroidery.

Models dazzled the floor wearing lightweight lehengas, shararas, peplum blouses, concept sarees, structured drapes, anarkalis and fusion-style jumpsuits.

Indian fabrics like kanjeevaram, neelambaris and chandheri apart from Italian tulle and silk have been used to create the garments in colours like soft pastels of peach, dusty rose, blush pink, coral, teal, vintage gold and aqua.

The occasion wears were set on a palette of electric blue, deep violet and plum and were generously embellished with Swarovski crystals.

The highlight piece of the show was an embellished trailing lehenga with almost 100,000 exquisite Swarovski crystals encrusted in its flora inspired appliqué embroidery.

Floral motifs combine with French knots, tulle, jaali burned in the fabric, lace, and ombré beading were used to bring a glamorous exquisiteness and drama to each piece.

The menswear included tone-on-tone sherwanis, Mughal-inspired kurtas with multiple fabric layers, kamarbandhs and stoles.
