Sopore Warpora residents protest water scarcity

Sopore, July 29 : The residents of Warpora village in Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district staged a demonstration and accusing officials of the Public Health Engineering department of not paying concern towards the prevailing water crisis in the area.

Reports reaching Kashmir Despatch said Scores of people of Raj Mohalla area of Wapora assembled on the Bandipora-Sopore highway and blocked it in the early morning hours and shouted slogans against the department.

The Public Health Engineering (PHE) department has failed to restore the water supply with the result our women flock have to go to other localities to fetch water said protesting residents.

The inhabitants alleged that the PHE employees have deliberately snapped the water from the locality which forced them to come to streets.

Agitating residents were demanding the immediate restoration of the problem in the area.

Meanwhile a police party reached the spot and assured locals of taking up their matter with authorities concerned.
