Maharaja’s atrocities on Kashmiris will always haunt us : Er. Rasheed

0

Srinagar 19th July : Coming down heavily on Vikram Aditya Singh, Congress leader & Maharaja’s grandson, for insulting martyrs of 13th July 1931, AIP President Er. Rasheed has said that the statement made is shameful, distortion of the facts and misleading. In a statement issued today Er. Rasheed said that rather spitting the sky Mr. Vikram Aditya Singh must collect the courage and apologize for the huge atrocities his grandfather committed on innocent Kashmiris.

He said “Those praising Maharaja must not forget that Maharaja had bulldozed basic rights of citizens, snatched their religious freedom and given liberty even to his Chowkidars to murder and rape anyone they would wish.

From Maharaja to his ordinary Chowkidars everyone would treat state like its concubine and their process of looting even day to day edibles of common masses was far worse than today’s gangsters.

Those who were martyred on 13thJuly 1931 will remain national heroes till dooms day and every year on 13th July Maharaja’s dark era will be condemned. History can never forgive Hari Singh for the massacre of Nov 1947 by his army killing lakhs of Muslims in Jammu province. The state sponsored genocide was the beginning of demographic changes in the state”.

Er. Rasheed asked NC & PDP to collect the courage and apologize for supporting Vikram Aditya Singh in recently concluded Parliamentary Elections. He added that Vikram Aditya Singh’s statement insulting martyrs has exposed not only dual face of Congress but that of NC & PDP as well.

Er. Rasheed added that before attributing anything to martyrs of 13th July 1931, neither Maharaja’s family nor anyone else must forget that whatsoever the entire subcontinent is facing today is because of Maharaja’s communal designs as he gifted J&K to New Delhi against the principles of partition according to which J&K should have become part of Pakistan not India.

He said “The bitter fact is that Maharaja preferred India over Pakistan only for the reason he was a Hindu and thus handed over entire state to flames of distraction. The Maharaja’s decision to acceded with India and his dubious understanding with late Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah created hatred among communities and also put the entire J&K in such a state of political uncertainty that not only the life of Kashmiris but that of entire subcontinent continues to be worse than the hell even after 72 years of instrument of accession”.

Er. Rasheed added that history will always remember the martyrs of 13th July 1931 who had a vision, conviction, commitment & courage to sacrifice their lives against Maharaja’s autocracy and thus created a history by bringing awareness among masses that how much mighty any autocratic ruler may be, he has to surrender before the will of masses.

Er. Rasheed also condemned the incident in which a prominent citizen was crying for not being allowed to carry forward the dead body of his father by the security forces on national highway.

Er. Rasheed asked Div. Com Kashmir to explain his position over the issue and reminded him of his tall claims that there is no ban on movement of civilian traffic on the highway. He urged Div. Com Kashmir to apologize for becoming a false mouth piece of the administration to hide the colonial and anti-people measures of the Government.

India team selection for West Indies tour postponed due to new CoA diktat

0

The Committee of Administrators (CoA) on Thursday decided to change the age-old rule of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary convening the selection committee meeting of the Indian team by handing the responsibility to the chief selector – currently M.S.K. Prasad. And that has seen the selection meeting to pick the team for the West Indies tour postponed by a day to Saturday.

Speaking to IANS, sources in the know of developments said that the directive of the CoA has led to a complete change of plan and that had led to a delay in the process. “The change in the rule announced by the CoA means that the Secretary will not convene the meeting and that is behind the delay as that has leads to some complexities which need to be addressed,” the source explained.

The CoA has decided that neither any officer bearer nor the CEO shall attend any Cricket Committee meetings henceforth. In fact, as of now, the Selection Committee had to keep the Secretary in the loop for any replacement sought or for posting of selectors to watch any game. The CoA has made it clear that the Selection Committee doesn’t need to do so anymore.

“The Committee of Administrators have been informed that the practice of the Secretary convening and attending Selection Committee meetings has continued even after the new BCCI constitution has become effective. Further, it is learnt that the Selection Committees continue to address emails to Secretary to seek his approval in relation to any change or replacement in the team(s).

“Similarly, the Selection Committees continue to address e-mails to the Secretary seeking his approval on travel arrangements and posting for selectors to watch and attend cricket matches. The Selection Committee does not need any approval either from the Secretary or the CEO in relation to any selection made or change or replacement in the team,” the CoA declared.

Speaking to IANS, a senior BCCI official asked if the CoA wasn’t aware of the constitution till now and if it took them a year to realise the rules and regulations of the constitution that was registered by the committee itself.

“The new Constitution of the BCCI has been mandated by the Supreme Court and in that regard it is correct that it must be followed. Why did it dawn on the CoA now after nearly about a year since it was registered? What triggered this awakening? Do they not know what is happening in the Board?” the official enquired.

The official went on to add that if the constitution was indeed being followed, then the office bearers should also be allowed to work as per the new rules and regulations.

“Do they also plan to allow the office bearers to work as per the new constitution or do they only wish to restrict? As per the new constitution, the office bearers are ex-officio members of the Apex Council and if the CoA think of themselves as the Apex Council, then in that role the office bearers who are also in a manner, court appointed, must also be part of the meetings with their votes on these issues.

“It is clear that the office bearers are not being allowed to function even as per the new constitution. So, it is basically the adoption of an arbitrary pick and choose policy by the CoA,” he rued.

Pakistan to grant consular access to Jadhav

0

A day after the International Court of Justice at The Hague urged Pakistan to grant consular access to death row prisoner Kulbhushan Jadhav, Islamabad on Friday declared that Mr. Jadhav will be granted the right to get in touch with the diplomats and officials from India.

“Pursuant to the decision of the ICJ, Commander Kulbhushan Jadhav has been informed of his rights under Article 36, Paragraph 1 (b) of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations. As a responsible state, Pakistan will grant consular access to Kulbhushan Jadhav according to Pakistani laws, for which modalities are being worked out,” stated a press release from the Office of the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA).

Hours before this decision by Islamabad, India emphatically said that Pakistan needs to obey the verdict of ICJ. Pakistan can immediately grant consular access to Kulbhushan Jadhav acting upon the multiple pending requests on the matter from India, said a diplomatic source. The comment came a day after the International Court of Justice at The Hague pointed out in its verdict that Pakistan violated the Vienna Convention by not granting consular access to the former Indian navy official who was given a death sentence by a Pakistani military court in 2017.

Kulbhushan Jadhav verdict: what now for India and Pakistan
“Pakistan already has several formal requests from us regarding consular access to Kulbhushan Jadhav. We hope they act on these requests now without delay,” said a diplomatic source indicating that there is no need for a fresh request from India for getting access to Mr Jadhav.

India made several submissions to Pakistan for allowing Indian officials to visit Kulbhushan Jadhav in custody that did not get a positive response from Islamabad till the verdict from ICJ. The diplomatic source said that a Pakistani response to the pending requests from India will be desirable as further delay in this matter is not acceptable given the majority verdict at the ICJ.

Earlier, reiterating the India’s stance, the External Affairs Ministry spokesperson, Raveesh Kumar said at the weekly briefing that Pakistan should comply to the directive of ICJ and provide consular access to Kulbhushan Jadhav without “any further delay”.
ICJ in its 42-page verdict on 17 July had instructed Pakistan not to carry out the death sentence handed to Mr. Jadhav and urged Islamabad to review and reconsider the sentence. “Islamic Republic of Pakistan deprived the Republic of India of the right to communicate with and have access to Mr. Kulbhushan Sudhir Jadhav, to visit him in detention and to arrange for his legal representation, and thereby breached the obligations incumbent upon it under Article 36, paragraph 1 (a) and (c), of the Vienna Convention,” said the ICJ in a press release following the verdict. India’s lead counsel had Harish Salve had stated on Wednesday that he expects Pakistani lawyers to defend Mr Jadhav in the court of law in Pakistan.

Pakistan maintained that Mr. Jadhav did not carry his authentic Indian passport while entering its territory and alleged that he carried a fake travel document that depicted his name as ‘Hussain Mubarak Patel’ and that he was responsible for acts of sabotage inside Pakistan.

In response, Mr. Kumar on Thursday said that it was time for Pakistan “to act” and help Indian consular officers to go and meet Mr. Jadhav who has not been seen for months. Mr. Jadhav was last seen in December 2017 when his mother and wife had travelled to Pakistan to see him at the time of Christmas.
