Imran Khan rejects Pakistan cricketers request to ‘celebrate differently’ for India’s army cap move

0

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has rejected the cricket team’s request as they wanted to celebrate India’s wickets ‘differently’ when the two teams meet in an ICC World Cup 2019 match at Manchester on June 16

According to reports, Khan rejected the request and advised the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to tell the cricketers to only stick to cricket during the India-Pakistan World Cup match.

“Prime Minister Khan has clearly conveyed to the players that they must enjoy the game and not indulge in overt show of political diplomacy or aggression. He is clear that sport should not blend with politics, hence there will not be anything like what the Indian cricket team did recently,” A senior official in the Pakistan establishment was quoted as saying by Mumbai Mirror.

Apparently Pakistan cricket team wanted to celebrate ‘differently’ in retaliation to the Indian cricket team wearing army caps during an ODI against Australia in March.

Confirming the development, a senior Pakistan journalist said PCB turned the cricketers’ request. “Reports state that the PCB has told its players to stick to cricket and turned down a request from Sarfaraz Ahmed and his team to celebrate India’s wickets ‘differently’ in retaliation to Kohli and Co. wearing army caps during an ODI against Australia in March,” tweeted Sadiq.

He also said that PCB chairman Ehsan Mani, while turning down the request, said, “We will not resort to what the other party has done. There could be sporadic celebrations in case of a hundred, like Misbah-ul-Haq’s push-ups during the Lord’s Test in 2016 which was a tribute to the army, but nothing different at the fall of a wicket.”

Shoaib Akhtar lashes out at AB De Villiers, says he chose money over country

0

Former Pakistan legend Shoaib Akhtar has slammed AB de Villiers for “putting finances over the country” in a video that he shared on Youtube.

“Firstly, people must not forget that there was pressure on AB De Villiers to leave IPL and PSL contracts and make himself available for the World Cup. However, he chose the IPL and PSL, announced an early retirement and recused himself from the World Cup,” said the former pacer.
Recently it came to fore that De Villiers had made a last ditch effort to get into the Proteas squad. The former skipper had retired from international cricket in May 2018 and thus did not fulfill the criteria of selection, which was playing South African domestic cricket or international cricket in the months leading up to the tournament.

“So basically everything started with finance,” said Akhtar. “I think when he took this decision, he did it looking at his finances and economics.
“The timing of this revelation raises serious questions. South Africa was in poor form even when he had announced his retirement a year before the World Cup. But I think he should have remembered (at that point) that his country needs him. The money will come today or tomorrow but you take the call of making money and ignore the World Cup.”

“I don’t mind people making money but do it in the right way. If you indeed have to make money then pick and chose correctly but keep your country as the priority.

“Now to clear your name you made a last-ditch offer to come out of international retirement for this summer’s World Cup. But I think the management was correct in their stand,” said the 43-year-old.

Anti Corruption Bureau Books Kiran Watal, Then Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation For Dishonest Intentions

Jammu, June 8: Anti-Corruption Bureau registered case against Kiran Wattal, then Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Jammu & then Sr. Town Planner for criminal misconduct, abuse and misuse of their official position as public servants while issuing building permission in favour of Pardeep Kumar and Kuldeep Kumar sons of Sh. Shanti Prakash with dishonest intentions.

A verification was conducted into the allegations that building permission was granted to Pardeep Kumar and Kuldeep Kumar for raising a residential as well as commercial structure at Gummat Chowk Jammu, illegally and against laid down procedure of Municipal Corporation Jammu.

The Senior Town Planner recommended case of the applicant to the then Municipal Commissioner Jammu, Kiran Wattal who approved the building permission without referring it to BOCA or UTEIC ignoring objections raised by ACR Jammu and AC Nazool, deliberately and with malafide intentions.

If, it is so, it is clear cut & proved case of huge corruption by the big boss, then Commissioner, JMC. If ACB will try to study UTEIC, NOC’s/guidelines more frauds shall come out.

During verification proceedings, it also came to fore that land in question was basically state land and acquired by Rani Blori temple during the rule of Maharaja but the officers relied upon the notarised lease deed which contained cuttings and unclear land specifications/Khasra number and despite these inherent defects, the permission was granted in favour of the beneficiaries, illegally thereby conferring huge pecuniary advantage upon them as the permission in question facilitated them to raise a huge commercial structure at the prime location near Gummat Chowk, Jammu.

It is not only the illegal case, if enquired lot of more such cases shall come out.

Nothing to do with controversy over Dhoni’s gloves: Army

0

Dehradun, Jun 8 (PTI) The Indian Army Saturday distanced itself from the controversy surrounding the daggar insignia on Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s gloves, saying it had nothing to do with it.

Dhoni’s gloves sported the Balidan badge of the parachute regiment’s special force during India’s opening world cup match against South Africa in Southampton in England on May 5.

Talking to reporters after a passing-out parade at the Indian Military Academy here, GOC-in-C (South-Western Command) Lt Gen Cherish Matheson said it was Dhoni’s personal decision to wear the Army insignia on his gloves and the Army had nothing to do with it.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) alone could take a decision on the issue, he said.

Being an honorary lieutenant colonel of the regiment, the insignia is embossed on Dhoni’s gloves.

When the ICC objected to it, the BCCI had sought permission for it, which was turned down by the world cricketing body.

The ICC said players could wear logos of sponsors only.

Demands creation of permanent staff, adequate infrastructure

SRINAGAR, June 8: Welcoming the opening of 50 new colleges in Jammu and Kashmir, former finance minister Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Saturday demanded that the state government should simultaneously go for creation of permanent staff for these colleges to achieve the target.

“I wholeheartedly welcome opening of new colleges and felicitate the Honb’le Governor for this much required initiative. However, my earnest appeal would be that the administration should create permanent faculty positions for these colleges or otherwise the purpose of establishing these colleges would be defeated,” Bukhari remarked.

The former minister also urged the governor led administration to take a thorough review of the infrastructure including housing and equipment, besides faculty position in the existing colleges in the state and take effective measures to address the loopholes.

“Also the government must expedite the process of identification and arrangement of land wherever the new colleges are supposed to function in rented accommodations. Need of the hour is to create and advertise the faculty and other staff positions urgently so that the colleges, new and existing ones become real centers of learning in Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.

Bukhari said the existing and newly opened colleges should have basic as well as latest job-oriented courses for students to address the grave issue of rising unemployment in the state. “Only then can these institutions serve the purpose of providing quality and meaningful education to the youth of the state,” he said, while adding that the government should strike a balance between its focus on expansion of pre university education and strengthening the infrastructure in colleges across the state.
